I have been doing some research on Greek inheritance law - and find myself in a precarious posistion. My father went to live in Greece in 1988 as a permanent resident. My mother and all her family are Greek. In 1990 my father married a girl 25 years younger than him after he said she pressurised him into this. Not long afterwards she abandoned him. She asked for a divorce in 1995/1996 (this is documented) and also a house to be signed over to her which was seen as settlement - for a marriage that never existed except on paper.
Before my father died he collapsed and was in a coma for 6 weeks. This woman arrived at the hospital when he was to undergo an urgent life saving operation and had 24 hours to live. My father survived and she returned back to her life in England - while he was still in hospital and in a critical, but stable condition.
My father for some reason wrote a will via post to an English solicitor. He left his worldwide assets to this woman and yet they were hardly on speaking terms at this time and the few years before this. Againm solid evidence is held. There is reason to beleive he was put under pressure and witness evidence is there to prove this.
After my father died, she did not even pay for my fathers funeral. She sold his boat and also went to a greek lawyer Called Mr. Skouras from Skopelos who wrote an affidavit to say that my fathers will, which was type written and only signed with initials was written in accordance to the internal law of greece and valid accordingly. This woman used this document to empty a bank account and also cash in an insurance policy. In the meantime her lawyer in england, who to my understanding was not paid because he said to me that his bill comes to thousands of pounds and his client can force me to court in england and I will end up homeless.
This matter is stil not resolved since October 2001. I went 'in tears' to the Probate office in the UK with all the evidence which proves the dishonest that that has taken place. The District Registrar gave me a one to one private appointment to discuss everything. He was aware that there could be inhertance law but because of the dishonest affadivit I am forced to go to court here in England and of course will lose.
It has been devasting to think a lawyer can be dishonest and corrupt the law and as a consequence this can destroy someones life. Why? To be paid? This is not the first tme I have been an innocent victim to legal corruption, which is in the process of being exposed. Authorities are also being contacted - which I am expecting no joy as it seems lawyers are protected, even if they are dishonest. Mr. Skouras despite being contacted by another hired lawyer to retract his document has ignored all correspondence and so far has refused to do this. I paid out a lot of money to this lawyer for a letter, which was meant to be an affidavit on Greek inheritance law. I feel betrayed by individuals of the legal system. Of course Mr. Skouras will be confronted in person when I am strong enough to travel.
The other aspect is that my fathers widow has also presented under oath insisting that my father was resident in England and did not even have permission to live there. I have her legal declaratoins which were to be presented in the Greek court. My lawyer over there told me I need to clear the matter in the English court because she has put in a court order request that I pay all her international legal bills.
For your information, the last time my father came to England was in 1990 when he married. It seems that people can lie in court and also lawyers and they get away with this. I have been made so ill with this and suffer with a life threatening condition.
The latest is that I am reliably informed by 2 people that my fathers widow who is 46 years old has found herself a new boyfriend. He is in his 70's with no children. It hurts me to think this man could also going to be another victim....I dont for one minute think she has genuine intentions because past patterns are being repeated. There is heartlessness through things that have been said in the past. There is no care or conscience that her lies could make me homeless either.
To my understanding because my father lived and died in Greece, the country of his domicile where he was also a pentioner - I need to resolve this matter in the Greek courts. Who knows by then if this old man is still alive, he might be a very valuable witness. Especially if he marries this woman.....and I dont think for one minute she will stay with him. This is information based on past experiences and I am a qualified professional who can assess and diagnose phychological patterns of behaviour. Unfortunately my health is such and with this ongoing distress, I have had to stop working with clients.
There is much more to this story...I have been told to write a book.....I do not have the time available to do this - because I still run a vital life saving recovery group, which I founded for almost 700 people (unpaid)..But when I do get around to it...naming and shaming will be applied. The threat of being sued for exposure is nothing compared to being an innocent victim in bed with breathing problems...and being told that I can be forced into court and I will end up homeless.
I hope no one ever has to go through my experiences....Legal corruption needs exposing by people - despite the threats and being silenced. This is the only way something wil be done to stop this. There are far too many innocent people in prison also. I hear lawyers gasp when I tell them what has happened in my situations, yet to get help will cost me thousands of pounds - to get this situation cleared from my life...The legal system is not set up for innocent people and victims of crime.
Do you have the name of the person he married? Even the first name would be helpful. We are to visit Skopelos soon to sort a similiar situation out and would like to be prepared.
